Who is the introductory allowance suitable for?
The start-up allowance is financial support from the Jobcenter for people who are planning to become self-employed. It is intended to help them bridge the initial phase of setting up a business and secure their livelihood. The amount of the start-up allowance is based on individual needs and can be granted for a limited period of time. The aim is to improve the chances of sustainable professional integration and to promote self-employment as an alternative to unemployment.

Scope of services
The start-up allowance is paid by the Jobcenter for up to 24 months from the date of foundation. It corresponds to the standard citizen’s allowance rate plus an additional 50% of the standard rate.
Citizen’s allowance + 50% of the standard rate
Example calculation: Citizen’s allowance € 563 + € 281.50 (50%) = € 844.50 entry-level allowance
The payout may decrease or cease altogether as income increases.
